Red Velvet Mexican Churros

Churros had never been so fun! Their bright red color and their delicious and crunchy flavor make these churros impossible to resist. Dip them in melted chocolate and serve them with a cup of coffee, for the best comfort food combo!

  • 1 2/3 cups water
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • red food coloring
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar, for sprinkling
  • white chocolate, melted, for serving
  • cream cheese, for the filling

  • In a pot, heat water over medium heat and add flour at once, cocoa, salt, and dry yeast. Stir continuously and cook for 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Transfer churros mixture to a mixer. Add eggs one by one and red food coloring. Mix for 7 minutes until perfectly incorporated.
  • Transfer mixture to a piping bag with a star nozzle.
  • Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Form a churro and fry for 3 minutes.
  • Place churro on a Bounty® paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  • Coat churros in sugar while still hot.
  • Serve red velvet churros with chocolate dip or stuff churros with cream cheese filling.
